Dr. Braverman,
I just got the results of my NK cell assay and was told that my NK cells are active, but they don't seem to go up with the interleukin stimulation or decrease consistently with IVIG, so was wondering if there is usually a margin of error on these tests that might explain these results. Would you consider this active? Thank you for your time.

NK Cell Assay with IVIgRIA
T:E 1:50 Native State % Killed 11.0
T:E 1:25 Native State % Killed 10.2
T:E 1:12.5 Native State % Killed 7.9
T:E 1:50 with IL-2 stim % Killed 10.3
T:E 1:25 with IL-2 stim % Killed 9.7
T:E 1:12.5 with IL-2 stim % Killed 7.5
T:E 1:50 with IVIg 12.5 % Killed 10.8
T:E 1:25 with IVIg 12.5 % Killed 9.5
T:E 1:12.5 with IVIg 12.5 % Killed 8.9
T:E 1:50 with IVIg 6.5 % Killed 11.3
T:E 1:25 with IVIg 6.5 % Killed 10.7
T:E 1:12.5 with IVIg 6.5 % Killed 10.2
=======================================================
RANGES:
=======================================================
NATIVE STATE STIMULATED (IL-2) SUPPRESSED (IVIg)
Normal <8.5 >15% Above Native >15% Below Native

I dont find any ot these results very significant. But you cant get a picture of what is happening by just looking at NK activity , it is just one of many tests that is needed to get a "full" picture of what is happening with the immune system, if you see our panel on the website you can see how extensive the testing should be. You just cant base any opinions on NK activity alone it seems to be the least reliable indicator as the embryo possesses natural defense mechanisms agians NK activation that is not looked at on this test.

Thank you Dr. Braverman. We are still waiting on the results of the HLA panel (sent in on 21st Mar), and we will set up a consult with you as soon as we have those. When we tested NK activity, we also measured anti-TPO (8.3, negative) and THAB (0.0, negative). What other tests would you like us to run before we talk to you?
