Hello Dr. Braverman. I will try to make this brief! I am a 29 year old female. 1st pregnancy resulted in miscarriage at 6 weeks and 2nd pregnancy resulted in stillbirth at 26 weeks. Pathology reported showed IUGR, massive perivillous fibrin deposition and no chromosomal abnormalities. I was taking Prednisone and Imuran during that pregnancy for my autoimmune disease Dermatomyositis. My Perinatalogist suggested only adding baby aspirin for a subsequent pregnancy, but from my own reading on the fibrin deposition I don't believe baby aspirin is enough as I read it is aggressive and has a high reoccurence rate. I did have thrombophilia testing done and it only came back positive for homozygous MTHFR A1298C which my Perintatologist says is no concern. I question that as well.

Have you had any patients have successful pregnancies after a diagnosis of massive perivillous fibrin deposition? I'm terrified that I won't be able to have my own children. Thank you for your time.

Read my page on Stillbirth , then please call my office or fill out a consult request form for a free consult so we can discuss your case in detail. Baby asa alone is not enough and you will likely require more aggressive immune therapy.
