CD19+/CD5+ question

Hi Dr. Braverman,

Can you tell me why the results from CD19+/CD5+ would come back low. I understand this in not an issue for miscarriage, but can you tell me what would cause this? Does this indicate that their is an issue with my NK cells? (again I think I understand that it has nothing to do fertility wise but I am asking for other reasons and cannot find anything answers on it anywhere)

There is no data on low CD19/5 they are typically a dormant cell line from embryonic life, certainly treatments of an anti inflammatory nature can lower them, but there is no data on the effect of very low Cd19/5 I see this quite often again mostly in the treated group of patients.

What about high levels? Mine are 22% (think normal range is 2-10). I have the autoimmune condition hashimotos.
Hashimoto's
rheumatoid arthritis
positive antithyroid antibodies.
Immune testing notable results =
very high Thyroid Antibodies >3000

mildly positive ANA speckled pattern

upper range CD3% 85.3% (60-85) and CD56% 11.6 (2-12) 
and very high CD19+
CD5+ cells 22.2% (2-12)

Cd19/5 cells are the producers of auto antibodies(such as you would get with Hashimotos) so it is expected to see them elevated in your case. 22 is a high level(Ive seen much higher) and consistant with your diagnosis. the treatment should be to try and lower antibody production as well as decrease the other complicating factors such as activation of your complement system while early in pregnancy. The CD19/5 cells themselves are not thought to be a problem alhtough recent literature suggests they may have other functions in the immune chair reaction other than just antibody production.
