Dear Dr.Braverman,

I was hoping I could run something by you, if you don't mind.

I have Crohn's for 20+ years and history of Graves, we have been trying for 4 years (5 IUIs, 5 IVFs and 1FET, with 3 chemicals and 1 ectopic to show for these, no successful pregnancies yet).
I have normal to elevated NKa and very high cytokines that do not respond to monthly IVIGs and occasional prednisone (TNF-a in the 50s, IFN-g in 40s) over the last 2 years, and cytokines are getting worse during stimms. I am taking bi-weekly Humira for Crohn's.

We are hoping for an FET if my cytokines improve to the normal range (switched to bi-weekly IVIG 30g and started 20mg prednisone 2 weeks ago).

In the meanwhile, I have been taking 75mg-100mg DHEA for many months now, so my DHEA-S stays in the normal range while taking this dose, and testosterone levels are low despite this dose of DHEA supplementation.

I have seen on your discussion board your comments on DHEA as an immune activator. Do you think I should stop or lower my DHEA dose to 25mg daily while I am taking 20mg prednisone in preparation for an FET? Or at 100mg it doesn't impact my immune system?

Thanks a lot for your advice, I look forward to hearing your insights!
Julia

I would stop the DHEA for now. I do think there are other treatment plans that would work for you. Why dont you fill out a consult form on the website and we can schedule a free 10 minute chat to discuss your case.
