Hello Dr. Braverman,
Recently my husband and I had DQ Alpha testing done and the nurse told us that we don't have matching. However, when I read the book "Is your body baby friendly?", it seems to me that both 0501 and 0505 genotype fall under 4.1 phenotype. Can you let us know if we actually having any matchting thus causing immune issue based on our testing results as follows:

Wife: 0105 and 0501

Husband: 0102 and 0505/0511

Thank you

Dr. Braverman

Please read my blog on HLA then you will better understand what this all means. You can not draw any conclusions form looking at only the DQalpha, yes you are correct that there is a difference between antibody nomenclature 4.1 and genetic nomenclature so most likley there is matching at the DQalpha as well.
