Dr Braverman,

My husband and I have matching DQa. (1:02/1:01 female) and (1:03/1:02 male). We have just had 2 failed FETS with PGD embryos and IVIG, Intralipids, LIT, Clexane, Dexa, Asprin. We have 2 more PGD embryos but cannot bear the though of failure again. So we are going to use a donor sperm instead, however they do not test for DQa on the donor. What are the chances that the donor will have matching DQa as me again? Do you think it is advisable to use a donor sperm even without ensuring the DQa match? Any advise is helpful. Thank you!

Please do not switch to donor sperm as it is not necessary in almost all cases. If you read through most of the threads on this board , when pateints mention DQalpha matches as a reason for treatment, it means the center where they are treated are not up to date on immunology. Please dont do anything until we at least have a chance to speak. 9 of 10 patients that had complete DQalpha matches in our practice had babies without changing sperm, the only failre was a pateint that could not produce eggs. I suggest you fill out a consult from on my website and we will schedule a free phone or SKYPE consult so I can review your case in detail.

Dr Braverman,

Thank you for your reply and advise.

I also have high NKC - my doctor wants to move to donor sperm now due to the DQa match and chances of pregnancy are very small. I also need to mention that I did an ERA Biopsy and moved my transfer date by 2 days and also did Filgrastin injection 1 day before ET. We are fine to proceed with donor sperm, but I am worried that they do not test them for DQa here in Australia. So it could be a gamble again.

I cant say this more strongly , there is no such problem of DQalpha match based on that you DO NOT need a sperm donor PERIOD. Please do not go that route.
