Have you seen any studies or have you personally seen that performing endometrial scratching in the cycle prior to the IVF cycle increases implantation rates?

yes it is useful. by activating genes that will assist with implanatation , the scratch test has actually been shown to improve outcomes.

I dont think it could ever hurt. The release of inflammatory cytokines from the scratch may still assist in implantation.

Dear Dr B,
Can you please tell me what you think about this study?
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20338560

If someone has increased cytokines and NK cells, can an emdometrial scratch cause the bad ones to increase? I am particularily worried about tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),
Thanks!

Dear Dr B,
Also if someone has had Ashermans can an endometrial scratch do more harm, ie increase the risk of scar tissue reforming? Thanks!

NO one has looked at this issue, but I would assume there is no benefit if the patient already has an inflammatory state. We have been successful treating the inflammation in these patients without ever having to use the scratch test.
