Dr. Braverman,

We completed IVF with PGD in late 2015 because Huntington’s runs in my husband’s family. We decided not have my husband tested so we do not know if he has it. We went ahead and also had chromosome testing done and had three normal frozen embryos. We transferred one embryo on Jan 25, 2016 and found out we were pregnant two weeks later (first and only pregnancy). We saw the HB at 5 weeks, 6 weeks (due to very little brown spotting for 1 evening) and 7 weeks. At our 11.5 week appointment there was no HB and the baby was measuring 9 weeks 5 days. I was taking Progesterone shots, baby aspirin (until my 6 week bleeding) and Estrace. We had a D&C on March 30th and had the fetus retested for Chromosome abnormalities and everything came back normal.

My question to you is since we know this is not a chromosome issue; I feel like my body has for some reason rejected the baby. I told my RE that I would like to pursue RPL testing (even though I don’t really qualify) because I have not seen many success stories of people who have gone on to have a successful pregnancy after a PGD miscarriage. I am currently waiting on my blood work results from RPL testing. My doctor doesn't think the testing is necessary just yet, but I wanted to know your thoughts on if additional testing is needed since we don’t really have a reason as to why this happened. Also, have you have seen anyone go on to have a successful IVF PGD pregnancy after a failed IVF PGD loss?

Thank you!

Blair

First we work up any patient with a normal PGD loss. Second RPL workup from an RE is only a fraction of what you need since it does not look at the majority of immune related failures. Look at our website under our sample testing and sample reports to see what you need . (we have even recently expanded this list) . WE will work with your RE if they desire and collaborate, but you would need a complete testing panel. (minus whatever they run that may coincide with us) . FIll out a consult form on our website and we will contact you to schedule a free consult to discuss your case in detai.
