Good day

I am currently going through my 4th miscarriage in less than a year. When I look at my history I suspect that the underlying issue was present during my attempt for my 1st child too.

My Fertility Specialist suspects that there is an immunological cause, however he has only done a few basic tests.

Please can you help!

1st child:

  • July 2010 - Ivf #1- SET (single embryo transfer) - miscarried @ 10 weeks (missed miscarriage).
  • October 2010 - Ivf #2 - 2 embryo's transferred with PGD. Negative.
  • December 2010 - Ivf #3 - 2 embryos with PGD - chemical pregnancy.
  • February 2011 - Ivf #4 - 3 embryos transferred, no PGD. Added intralipids & glucophage - positive. Bleeding @ 6 weeks - added ecotrin. Boy born @ 38 weeks.

Attempt 2nd child:

  • Nov 2013 - Ivf #5 - SET with intalipids - chemical pregnancy.
  • January 2014 FET #1 – SET - negative.
  • February 2014 - Ivf #6 - SET with intralipids - chemical pregnancy.
  • March - FET #2 - 2 embryos transferred - weekly intralipids, good beta's - blighted ovum @ 7 weeks.
  • August - Ivf #7- SET - low betas with doubling rate between 51 & 57 hrs. Bleeding @ 5 weeks, betas still increasing. 6 week 3 day scan - subchorionic haemorrhage & small sac. No heartbeat. 7 week scan – haemorrhage gone, sac increased in size, still no heartbeat. Evacuation done.

All embryos transferred were always excellent grade, expanded blastocysts & all day 5 transfers.
SUMMARY:

  • 9 Ivf's
  • 7 positive outcomes
  • 3 chemical pregnancy
  • 1 miscarriage @ 10 weeks
  • 2 blighted ovums
  • 1 live birth

DIAGNOSIS:

  • PCOS
  • Hypothyroidism (developed after delivery of 1st child) – on medication
  • A- blood group

Tested for Anti-phospholipid Syndrome - negative
