Dr. Braverman,

I have struggled with infertility for the past 3 years. After a plethora of tests and treatments, it was found through a blood test I have a high level of Natural Killer Cells. I was planning on doing my third cycle of IVF this year, but got pregnant naturally! I was working with a Doctor who suggested Intralipid Treatment which was performed at 5 weeks. He has suggested continuing the treatments up to 24 weeks of pregnancy. Unfortunately I have met with so many doctors in Phoenix, AZ to get a second opinon and all have no experience or have said to discontiue treatment. What is your professional advice? Continue or stop? Do Killer cells continue attacking past a certain point in the pregancy? I am now 10 weeks pregnant.

Thanks!

Natural Killer levels by themselves really offer you little information about the causes of your losses or infertility . We continue follow the entire immune protocol once pregnant so we do not need to guess about "when" to stop therapies. In your case I have no idea really what your diagnosis is so I cannot say the IL was the correct therapy. I will only tell you that in mnay that need it , they stop after the 12 week period and do fine. I just cant exprapolate that over to your case.
