Hello Dr. Braverman,
I had a laparoscopy done in March to remove an ovarian cyst. It turned out to be an endometrioma and I was diagnosed with stage 3 endometriosis. My husband and I started trying to concieve last year for 7 months with no sucess. That was when the cyst was discovered and also a thyroid nodule which turned out to be cancer. We put trying to concieve on hold and I had a total thyroidectomy in November. I really didn't have any endometriosis symptoms except premenstural spotting for 5-10 days. None of my doctors have seemed too concerned about this. I thought that maybe after my lap that the spotting would get better but it's not. It basically feel like I have a two week period every month and it just doesn't seem normal to me. I requested to have my AMH retested and day 21 progesterone checked. I am hesitant about starting to try to get pregnant again. I eat a very clean plant based diet, take supplements and exercise daily. Is there anything else you think I should have checked or what else could be the cause of days of spotting before my period? Thank you!

I would not worry at all about the spotting. More importantly you need to find the underlying autoimmune issue that has predisposed you to endometriosis(see my videos on endometriosis on my website) . I think you will most likely need IVF but also treatment for the implantation issues associated with endometriosis. If you would like me to help you with this simply fill out a consult request on our website and we can schedule a free 10 minute chat.

So there is nothing to worry about with the spotting being related to endometriosis? It's just something that I have to live with? My RE who did the lap and diagnosis has only told me basically to try to get pregnant ASAP, as there is about a 30% chance of recurrence in the first year and that pregnancy will stop the endometriosis and when I'm not pregnant going on the Pill will do the same. That's it. No mention of implantation issues, auto immune or IVF. How do I go about finding out if I have an autoimmune disorder? Thank you.

You would need a full immunology workup which I can do for you , I wouldnt expect your Ob/Gyn to understand this as they have no training with full immunology issues. Look at my videos on endometriosis on my website.
