Are there any negative effects progesterone support can cause past 12 weeks? I have read in the immune world, patients stay on progesterone up until 20 weeks. Do you test out their levels to see if they have any major drops? Have you ever kept a patient on progesterone through their pregnancy entirety? Can you do progesterone supplementation and P17 shots at the same time?

Thanks for your time,

Placenta takes over function of progesterone at 10 weeks,so longest most would need progesterone us up until 12 weeks. There is evidence that supplemental progesterone may inhibit pre term labor but this is not conclusive.
