Hi Dr. Braverman,

I have been in contact with an RE who is suggested that there is no benefit in doing the expensive immune testing (isn't against it, just doesn't see the need for us to spend the money on it) if they just plan to prescribe an immune protocol anyhow (ie: intralipids, steriods and baby aspirin).

What's your take on this and what do you suggest I say on my follow up with them to not come across like I am insulting thier knowledge? Also, we live in Canada, if I chose to go ahead and do the testing, can that be easily arranged living out of country?

Thank you,

Kim

Treating blindly can never be better than looking at what you are treating. But is does show a complete lack of knowledge on the "many" ways the immune system can interfere with maternal tolerance to the embryo. Treatment 'IS" affected by the findings and not just the choice of medication(its not all about Intralipids and prednisone) but the dosing and the frequency as well. Lastly once pregnant many pateints have immune responses that require adjustments to their therapy that could lead to later pregnancy complications that Im sure your RE has no knowledge or experience with. I would move on to another RE .

Yes I beleive we could get testing for you , as we have many pateints in Canada. I would suggest you fill out a consult form on our website and we can schedule a free consult by telephone or SKYPE to discuss your case in detail.
