Dr Braverman,
I have been diagnosed with PCOS. My total testosterone levels are 27.9 ( free was never tested) and Estradiol at 31. My fasting glucose has been normal and insulin levels have never been checked. I however, have classic cystic ovaries and suffer from excess hair and higher body wait. BMI 25.5. My father and his siblings suffer from diabetes and I also suffer from hypothyroidism.
I have done two medicated (only clomid) IUI's (ovulation was confirmed via OPK and not u/s) ending in no pregnancy. three cycles of IVF (one agonist and two antagonist protocols) and one FET and all ended in early M/C. My RE believe problem is embryo quality but I have a hard time believing that I did not have even one good quality embryo in the total of 35 embryos that developed in the three cycles.
I feel that IVF drugs result in damaging my eggs and therefore failure after failure. Do you believe IVF is the only and best solution for PCOS patients? is there any way to overcome the poor quality eggs? Do you think with just using medications we might over come our fertility problems? At this stage I have lost all faith in IVF.

It is not uncommon for patients to come to me with PCOS and a diagnosis of "poor embryo quality " . Most of the times this is due to 2 issues.

Failure to properly treat the insulin resistance
Failure to properly perform the stimulation and timing of retreival

these are very easy to correct and most that have cycled with us have not had these issues.

I would be happy to review your case with you, best would be to call my office and they will schedue a brief free consultation and we can discuss this , dont despair.
