HI!!

I am so excited to find some helpful info.

I have a very healthy 4 year old son and my partner and I have been trying to give him a sibling (or 2 or 3). My pregnancy with my son was very easy. Besides the first two or three months of "morning" sickness I had a very nice pregnancy with no problems including labour and delivery. was quick and easy and with no pain meds or epidural. Everything I thought was perfect. But I wonder now if something happened when I had my son??

So 3 or so years later I became pregnant for the second time and carried until 14 weeks. Waited 3 months like the doctor said we should and became pregnant for the third time. Miscarried at 5 weeks. Pregnant the 4th time; miscarried at 10 weeks.

Done all the blood tests and everything seems ok. Waiting now for a referral to see an obstetrician or fertility guy or whoever it is my family doctor refers me to. I have had bad experiences with the previous obgyn's I've had so I am nervous I will not get any answers I am looking for. I know it's a hard ? to answer and a lot of times there is no answer but I will not give up hope.

When I lost 1st and 3rd I had an ultrasound and from what I was told they were not ectopic pregnancies so that could be ruled out. I am generally quite healthy. I have been taking prenatal supplements for over a year and eat a healthy diet. I stay fit and exercise often. Non-smoker, Don't drink much. My husband the same.

I am trying not to get frustrated but at times it is hard. I debated going on the pill to prevent pregnancy all together so that I wouldn't have to go through the lose of yet another baby. My family n I would love so much to grow:) Can you help us?

Thank you so much, crm

Hi crm,
Please do not loose hope there are so many explanations for your losses that Im sure have not been investigated , and all are very treatable. If you read the website, we have learned that some women carry a special HLA gene that predisposes them to abort all pregnancies after a first born child that is a male. It seems this gene allows the mother to pick up male genetics from a male embryo and bring the information to the lymph node in an inflammatory manor such that every pregnancy afterwards will be attacked by the immune system and you will have the losses at the times you have been experiencing them. This is only one possible explanation. There are immune conditions that are triggered by a first successful pregnancy and again these can all be identified and treated. So you have not even started to explore these things and no reason to give up yet, I have had many patient like yourself and most successfuly carry another baby.
Fill our the patient questionairre on the website and fax it to me, then call for a consult or send in the consult request. I know I can at least give you answers. Good luck
