Hello,

I live in the UK and came across yor site by Googling! I have a daughter who will be 3 in January 2011. My husband and I decided to try at the end of last year to get pregnant. I got pregnant immediately, but then at an early scan was discovered to have had a missed miscarriage. This has happened now in July, and most recently October of this year. I do have an appointment to see Prof Quenby on Wednesday 24 November here in England. I am not sure if you know of her or of her work. She is one of the few doctors here who does research into NK cells and immunilogical issues. I have been told that when we go they will do a number of blood test etc to see where we are. I would just like to say that is also comforting to know that this forum is available and I will keep you posted on how we go. I do feel like I am at the end of the road, and I am not sure how many more miscarriages we'll be able to take. I am 33 and my husband 32. Our first pregnancty went without a hitch. I wonder if, when I get results back I'd be able to send them to you?

Thank you

Rita

Dont despair, when you've had a successful pregnancy and there are immune issues, it is very unlikely that you wont have another child in our experience. I think you are in good hands with Dr. Quenby. Most Reproductive Immunologists have their own unique set of tests that they learn to interpret , and give them insight into the cause of your losses. There are so many cells involved in the "chain" reaction that lead to immune reaction and there are many types of cells that can be followed by different clinics and still lead to the same conclusions.
If you would like me to follow the your case along with Dr. Quenby feel free to fill out the questionairre on our site so I can have better insight into your history and give you a better opinion. Please remember that there must be more detail to your immune workup then just NK cells if you are going to get an accurate assesment of the reasons for your losses. Good luck.

Thank you so much for you response. I do know that she is going to do tests on blood clotting, progesterone, testosterone, lupus anticoagulant, and there were others that I haven't listed. I have heard good things about her, and I know she has been doing trials here on Nk cells and other things.

I see her on Wednesday and will keep you posted on our progress.

Thnak you for taking the time out to respond to me. I know I am in the UK and there is not much you can for me, but I felt compelled to write to you anyway.

My pleasure. Just so you are aware we can also arrange for our immune panel in the UK if it turns out that you need more information , another set of eyes. I am sure however you will get some great insight with Dr. Quenby. Let me know how it goes and I wish you a speedy course to your baby .
