First of all, as I write this, I am holding one of my precious 13 day old twins (my baby girl). Here is my Dr. Braverman success story:We were very blessed to have easily conceived, and had a great pregnancy with our precious little girl, now 6 1/2, and assumed that when we were ready for more babies, that would happen just as easily. However, it took us 10 months to conceive, once we started tryng, and we lost the baby around 6 weeks. After another 10 months, we finally conceived again, but lost the baby around 5 weeks. Another year without conceiving went by. I knew it wasn't just a coincidence. I did discover I had autoimmune hypothyroidism, and got that under control with the correct thyroid medication and dose, and following a gluten free diet. I figured that was part of my problem, that the antibodies were attacking my embryos. I started researching, and discovered that there was a field of medicine called Reproductive Immunology that dealt with issues like that, RPL, and infertility; and that Dr. Jeffrey Braverman was on the cutting edge of the cutting edge of the field. The success stories were so inspiring, and I started dreaming that someday I could be telling my own.I set up my free consultation with Dr. Braverman, and he was confident, after hearing my issues and my story, that he could help us. We flew up (from Texas) to visit Dr. Braverman at his office to further consult, draw all the blood tests, and have the diagnostic bloodflow ultrasound. After all I had been through--3 years of miscarriages and infertility--it was so hard to imagine having success. However, Dr. Braverman already had a treatment plan started for me, and assured me that he was confident we would indeed have another baby. He was kind, humorous, patient, and so personable, and really made us start having some hope again. He prescribed something to protect an embryo from the anti-thyroid antibodies that my body was making and when the testing came back, he called me and explained that due to a genetic issue he found with me, that we would also need IVF, with PGD, and then transfer healthy embryos in FET, as well as medication treatment for borderline high TNF that he found in me.Fast forward a few months later, we transferred two healthy embryos, one male and one female. We also followed Dr. Braverman's protocol. We joyously discovered that we were pregnant, 13 days later, and four days after that, that we were having twins! Right away, we started first trimester monitoring with Dr. Braverman to make sure that our babies would be safe. We flew to see him for the 10 week ultrasound, and he was able to tell us that all our vasculature was "beautiful," and that our little twins looked great! Oh how wonderful it was to know that!I had a wonderful pregnancy, enjoyed every minute, and my babies stayed inside until their scheduled c-section date of 2-6-14 when I was 38 weeks exactly. They were both born at 10:17 am. Liam McKay weighed 5 lbs, 12 oz and was 18.5" long, and Tegan Gwenllian weighed 6 lbs, 1 oz and was 19.5" long. Both had 9/9 Apgar scores, and my doctor even commented on how my placentas were some of the healthiest she had ever seen! After three years of heart ache, yearning, and loss, we are just overjoyed, and love our precious babies so incredibly much. If it wasn't for Dr. Braverman, they wouldn't be here. He found our problems, and helped us know just what we had to do, and got me on the correct treatment protocol. We are lucky enough to even have four more healthy embryos, if we want to add to our family in the future.Thank you Dr. Braverman! You are a true hero! Liam and Tegan thank you too for helping them come to our family!
