Will my allergies interfere with my chances of another baby?

Hi Dr. Braverman,I have an appointment with you in January. (I did have one for 11/8, but had to cancel d/t Sandy). I know this question might not seem like a big deal, but it does concern me, and I want to know what you recommend I and will follow through with whatever that is. A couple weeks ago, we adopted a little stray kitten that we found outside our house. He is healthy, and we got him his shots, worming, flea meds, and he has a very sweet personality. Our 5 year old daughter is just absolutely in love with him.The problem is that I am definitely allergic to cats. I have been sneezing a lot, and my eyes are sometimes itchy. I had a cats throughout my childhood, and until my daughter was 6 months old when my cat passed away; but have not had one in about 5 years. My mom has cats, and I always sneeze a lot at her house (but she also has four pomeranians that shed a lot too). I never had allergies with cats we had before, but then again, my thyroid had not gone autoimmune until a couple years ago.The allergies are not totally driving me crazy, but I would not want ANYTHING to interfere with the immune treatments you prescribe in Jan, and having another baby. This kitten is still very little and cute, and I am sure I could find a nice home for him, if you think that the allergies I have to him will interfere. I hate to give him away, and I know my little girl would be very sad, but I will not risk not being able to get and stay pregnant over him either, if you think that would be a risk. So, in your opinion, is it ok to keep the kitten, or do you recommend I find a home for him, as the allergies could cause inflammation or an immune reaction that will interfere with treatment? Thank you so much for taking time to tell me what I should do. This is a big deal to me, and I want to make the right decision.

As I dont know the cause of your issues yet , it would be very premature to have you give this kitten away , its nothing we can t reverse if its a problem.

Thanks a lot for the advice, I told my daughter this morning that we can kep the kitten and she was beyond thrilled! I'm glad it will be OK and we can reverse it if we need to. And Happy Thanksgiving!
