I have suffered 2 miscarriages in 4 months. I am totally devestated as I have no children and this is my ultimate dream! I am 24 years old and we started to try to get pregnant in August 2010. I have no problem getting pregnant, infact I got pregnant on my very first try the second time.
The first miscarriage occured when I was only about 5 wks. We had numerous u/s and we never saw nothing. My HCG levels were low but were slowly rising. I spotted for a couple of weeks before undergoing a D&C. Second time we saw a heartbeat, everything seemed to go well and the next day after we saw the heartbeat I had a natural miscarriage.
I was diagnosed with UC in January of 2007. I have had about 3 flares since then but I am now on mercaptopurine along with 4,000 mlg of Sulfasalzine a day. I have been in remission for about a year.
Do you think that these miscarriages are due to my UC? I never had my hcg levels or anything else checked in the 2nd pregnancy.
My OBGYN said that next time we try I will be on progesterone. Do you think this has something to do with my immune system?

I think immune issues are most certainly a probable cause of your problems and need to be addressed or your risk of miscarriage will remain high. I have many patients with UC and most are successful with treatment. Please call my office and schedule a consultation, ask for Kim. I would be happy to participate with your OB/GYN in your care and send him a correct protocol for you.

I would love to get more informed and possibly be on treatment before our next try, but I noticed that your office is in NY. I live in Nebraska. Would you have to run some test? What kind of test? Could you order the test to be preformed here? I would have no problem flying there to get help, but I can't afford to travel there several times. Do you think you could recommend someone in Nebraska if needed to have several follow ups.

Most of my patients never travel here, and we arrange testing and manage treatments for them locally. Thats no problem at all.
